Matthew 22:1-14 Our reading this week invites us to examine what happens when those with privilege refuse an invitation to shared abundance and respond violently when challenged. Jesus’ kingdom challenges societies organized around exclusion, accumulation, and domination. The question is ultimately not simply “Who is invited?” but “Who has access to the table, who is being excluded, and what are we willing to change so that everyone can share in the abundance of life?” The first part of our reading mentions those who refused the invitation outright. The last part asks us to consider a person who attended but did not respect the event enough to wear the proper attire.
